Easter Sunday starts early in Malta

Actually it starts at 5:00 am! Its called the 'Weckruf'' and is a combination of the church bells for 10 minutes followed by the brass band! Thankfully the wall to wall blue skies and sunshine make up for the rude awakening and the wonderful brass band plays after church too, at a far more civilised hour!

We hear it continues to rain in Spain and that the temperatures in California are lower than here - our hearts go out to all those unfortunates who did NOT spend Easter in Carinthia! My sunburn is testament to how wonderful it has been. Hope it lasts all summer.

Tonight I have given in to spousal pressure and agreed to have Moto GP live on the TV - wonder if we can attract some extra bar guests? There are certainly motorbikes by the hundreds out and about - a welcome early start to the biking season and boding well for the next few months, especially once the scenic routes like the Grossglockner open at the end of May. Our biker bookings are slowly creeping up, as are the bookings from friends and acquaintances from the UK. We are looking forward to seeing some much missed faces!

Happy Easter everyone from John and Ros ! xx

One day - 2 seasons!

Morning on the mountain playing in the snow, afternoon in the valley walking by the waterfalls. Where else but Malta? We are all getting suntanned and he kids love the sun and snow mixture! Temperatures around 25 C predicted again for tomorrow so I think a trip to the lake is in store. So much fun to have, so little time........

Springtime fun in Austria

What a change in the weather! From sub zero only a short while ago to 24 C on the terrace this lunchtime! But the snow is still on the mountains so our visiting grandchildren can enjoy sledging in the sunshine without getting cold. What fun! Of course the parents have to have a go too!

And so do the grandparents!
Meanwhile our terrace is back in action and some visitors have defintely been seen in the valley so everybody is looking forward to Easter weekend in the sun!

Spring is Sprung!

Hurrah! Hurrah! Temperatures up in the high 'teens', sunshine, flowers out, blue skies and guests on the terrace. Spring is here at last! Our first lunchtime guests of the season prompted us to begin getting the outside area to look inviting again so the terrace furniture has started to come out of the garage and the garden has been set a bit to rights - thank you Andrea for your help with that!

The population of Malta and the areas around have been out and about enjoying the good weather and lots of people have stopped and read our menus for next weekend. One person has already ordered 'fish & chips' for Good Friday. Lets hope its all a good sign!

Tomorrow Andi, Mandy & the kids arrive - can't wait! It will be lovely to have them here and its supposed to be 22 degrees! Lots of photos coming up!
